An Interview on The Fellowship of the Ring

The SLY Games Blog: Today we are pleased with the presence of Robin. Robin, thank you for joining us.

R:You’re welcome.

SG:I have been told you’ve had some new thoughts from your experience last night?

R: (Blankly) What do you mean?

SG: I thought you watched a movie?

R: Oh yes, The fellowship of the ring, plus its appendixes.

SG: Ah. Did you enjoy the movie? What hindsight can you give us from your experience?

R:Yes, I enjoyed the movie as always. When I listened to the enthusiasm of the Weta artists and craftsmen, and how they poured themselves into their work for the movie, I was struck with their unusual… the unusual commitment to the work. I was surprised by all the intricate details and research that went into their creation of props and costumes.

SG: Hmmm. And you didn’t notice it before watching the Behind-the-Scenes?

R: Oh, I noticed their creativity and hardwork when viewing it previously, but this time there was something more.

SG: Something?

R: Yeah, I realized that they didn’t just love their work, but they actually sounded inspired.

SG: Inspired in what way?

R: They were inspired by Tolkien himself. When he created his stories he mirrored God the Creator. He put so many beautifully intricate details together, and the depth of his knowledge brought about a unique gem, as many would agree. So when the artists and craftsmen are describing their work, you see the same inspiration. The musicians, as well.

SG: You seemed not to mention the digital CGI artists. How come? Did you have any insights on them? Their software?

R: I was including them in the team of artists. But since you mention it, they put so much effort into Gollum that I can see that they had been deeply affected by Tolkien’s initial characterization of this pathetic villain.

SG: Aha. I see. Well that’s about all for today. Do you have a final thought, Robin?

R: When God inspires one person, who translates that inspiration into the work of his hands, the degree of impact is impossible to predict. And the messages and philosophies…

SG: Expressed?

R: Yes, expressed in that work (LOTR) will have immeasurable effect.

SG: Thank you, we will all benefit. Thats All Folks!
