At request I was asked to do a blender tutorial on how to texture, I am using blender 2.5 Alpha 1. For those who aren’t, the screenshots may not match up. By the way, I don’t show you how to texture, just how to get ready for texturing.
Go into edit mode (Tab) on the normal cube.

Make sure everything is selected (A) And hit U, smart project.

Find the UV Image Editor.

Once there, find a menu called “Image” and hit “New".
Now go back to the 3D view.

And then go to Texture Paint Mode.

There should be a panel to the left called “Brush".

Strength is like, the opacity of the brush.
Size is the size of the brush, and jitter is kind of the spray type.
You may want to bring strength and size to max for testing.
Paint on the cube with the LMB.
On the viewport shading, you may want to change it to “textured".

Go to texture buttons.

And click “Brush".

Click new, and change texture type from clouds to image.

Scroll over and click “Open” and find your image from your hard drive.
Make sure you are in Texture paint mode and paint to your heart’s content! ![]()
For your information, using this technique, you can texture much more detailed objects that a cube. Just go through the same steps. ![]()
